Need wind and rain proof protection of some sort but cant deside on a gilet or jacket .
For damp roads but not raining and turning to rain .
My Last ride I had a damp base layer and arms ,under my long sleeve winter Jersey. I didn't mind the arms wet but the chest was cold .I See other club members in both gilet and jacket but What would be your choice and why.? Thanks

It's not an 'either/or' really. A gilet will keep your core warm on days when full winter kit might not be needed (like today) - winter jacket for when it drops down below 8deg for me. ymmv.

Depends how much you want to spend. A 'Good Breathable Jacket' can run into £100s. For damp roads, but not raining a cheap fully water/wind proof will cost a lot less. When I used to commute to work, 16 miles each way, I had a top quality jacket which allowed me to work hard but still wicked* away the sweat, IIRC (this is some time ago, I've been retired 14yrs) it cost me £250. Well worth it when it chucked it down!

Quick replys thanks folks.
Going out soon round the local bike shops will see what they have . Looking online there and I'm swinging more for a gilet white colour sort of transparent where club kit can still be sort of visible .

Hope you've got full mudguards or white will be ruined after one ride by the shite stripe up your back. Could wear under jersey I guess!

As some use both . Mabye bet bet is to get both for me . Take today for instance .
Outside here its damp roads ,no rain but misty . So my club long sleeve winter Jersey is what I would wear but if it starts raining when j get out a waterproof would be needed but a jacket would be too much I think .depends on the rain fall . So a gilet at this present time would be enough to stop road spray and drizzle. .
