I like using lights which have batteries which are easy to get hold of.

had a quick look online, amazong dont do them, expensive evans dont either. i see i can buy them direct form fenix, and they have different versions of it too. oh so complicated. so its a godo light and gives a godo spread of light just to confirm?:

You can buy direct from the UK site

http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/

You also get a choice of lens reflector as well smooth or textured (orange peel). I've got the textured and it has less of a hot spot and even spread. I think the smooth gives a slightly longer throw.

Have a look at this You Tube link - compares to Cateye EL320 - no comparison really.

I must admit I am tempted, I've been wanting two front lights for a while. The fact that it is a useable torch as well (which we need) is a bonus. It would make an interesting comparison with the Busch and Muller Ixon IQ I currently have.

Hmmm.

Im not tempted,my two front lights do a fine job and I have no problems.(touchwood)

This is one of them and I generally have it flashing. The other one is different I think it's a Smart 1 watt steady.

Oh yeah fair enough.I remember cycling back form Harlow at night in the late 80's with dynamo and pretty weak LED lights, twas a bit hairy at night couldn't see bugger all.

The Blackburn light can be set to steady though but probably not what you are looking for.

Hackers, I thought you had a dynohub? I have a Schmidt SON, but the light isn't that great. I'd like to try the new Schmidt LED light...

I have a dynohub yes and it's plugged into 3 battery boxes although I only really need 2 battery boxes.

2 of the battery boxes run the two car horn thingies. The AC from the dynohub charges the battery boxes.

They were built over one and a half years ago.(still the same batteries).Mean to build a new battery box with a circuit breaker in.
Did do another version with smaller connectors but found these unreliable.
Also have a speacial battery charger for them but I very rarely use it.
The battery boxes run those two lights and as a novelty the standlight on the back has it's own battery box but this is probably not needed.

ahhh thanks. interesting article. I did see a film crew, (news), down on my one yesterday. they didnt bother stopping me to ask anything, prob going to fast :?: joking. there some crazy fast people on their bikes who use it, but there are some just as bad who jog or walk or exercise their dogs too.

I just bought the Fenix E20 torch. it's their entry level high power one. only £24.99

2xAA battery, throws out 109 lumens, whatever that means. I got it yesterday, damn it's bright!!!
It will certainly light up the road in front of me enough for the car that's going to hit me to think he's running over an alien spaceship!

I also have 3 rear lights... should keep them amused. and hopefully keep me safe!
