I just wish councils would run a roadsweeper down cycle paths once in a while. Leicester City Council have these small 'green machines' that trundle endlessly round the city centre but do they ever think to clean the broken glass that covers some otherwise very good cycle paths.

It's the same here. We actually have some quite decent cycle paths locally that are direct, wide, and uninterrupted. I know- its a bizarre concept! (We've also got our fair share of crap ones too of course). But it's hedge trimming season and many paths are completely unusable at the moment.

Nothing new there but good to get the points re-stated as often as possible.

Being pedantic - cyclists right to use the road is more than (not equal to) a car drivers. In fact the car driver does not have a right to use the road - merely a licence.

Yeah same here, I've been making quite a study of cycle paths since getting the trike. hope fully back on 2 wheels by Chriggy so I can go back to ignoring them (other than the Cloud trail and the Tissington, oh and the Great Central way and the.......................................................)

I agree but with one difference, the burial of Richard 111 in Leicester will bring in a lot of tourism especially from Americans and Canadians whom make up a sizeable proportion of the Ricardian Society (along with my other half)
Secondly how much of your council tax goes into the city or is Desford part of the City these days as my home village Enderby seems to be becoming, maybe this proposed Beggars lane development will bring it closer. The residents of Blaby district successfully opposed the plans for 'Centre 21' being built but Fosse park and the Meridian/ Thorpe Astley got built anyway.

James May should make a programme about how crap cycle lanes are. I've got a lot of time for him - he's much more civilised than Clarkson and genuinely interested in the world. He seems less of a suck-up than Hammond - I think he really wants to be seen as different from Horrible Jeremy. He's just done a very informative doco on "peoples' cars", ie cars for the masses, which was a lot to do with history and society and much less to do with all that sports car bolux on Top Gear.
