A mate said exactly the same this morning about one in Cardiff. He sent his back and insisted they add more to it as it resembled a children's portion.

Profit is primarily an accounting trick. If you want less profit, simply pay your executives more, as long as your shareholders don't mind.

I know someone who has been a board director of two of the big mid market food chains and he says it’s been a nightmare over the last 5 years trying to make profits.

Too many restaurants

Paying too much rent

Credit crunch reducing footfall.

Ingredient costs going up.

Generally venture capitalist owners and over leveraged companies.

He got out last year because he reckons lots of these companies are teetering in the edge.
