I've already received emails about January sales starting now (Play was one, can't remember the other). What on Earth?! It's still December! The sales themselves don't bother me, but it's not January yet, so it's not a January sale!

It pisses me off how Christmas/Easter/Halloween stuff appears in the shops earlier and earlier, but I didn't think that the shops could move whole months. Soon we'll be celebrating Christmas in January, and the year will start with February.

(I picked up a coat that I've been wanting in the Topshop sale this morning, half price. Two hours after I ordered it it was sold out in all sizes! Smug doesn't even cover it.)

My local bike shop mailed me last night with a "Starts 27 December 2010 to 15 January 2011 - 15% Off" offer.
I guess they are trying to shift all their 2010 models....

VAT goes up at the start of January doesn't it? So there's gonna be a lot less bargains.

+1. I'm hoping the Amazon sale gets going pronto as I've got a couple of things to get that I've waited on for months - it's going to be a tight window for shopping between the start of the sales and VAT going up on 4th Jan (that is, unless some retailers decide to absorb the VAT increase temporarily).

Just noticed the Hope 1 lights at CRC down from £84 to £67. Plus an SRAM 8 speed cassette - £16.97 51% off. Oooh too tempting...

It won't make much of a difference though - an extra £25 per £1000 spent. I might pop down the local Evans after Christmas, I have a £40 voucher to spend.

You could get a really nice new helmet for that amount.
