Peeled then roasted with some honey is good and I agree they're great in a gratin. Small quantities though, they are waaaay worse than baked beans.

Ha ha, you're telling me. All was calm for a while, deceptively so... but around the three hour mark they well and truly began to kick in.

My wife makes a lovely risotto with them. Slice up thin and fry. Blend a portion and mix in with the risotto when cooked. Garnish with the rest.

Thinly sliced in a sarnie with lettuce, tomato and a dash of vinegar - satisfyingly crunchy, highly recommended.
