I don't like tax dodging, legal or not. We are a sociaty and for socailism to grow we need people to be taxed in proportion to their income. If we got the tax from all the rich people that dodge do you think we would be needing to make as many cuts as we currently are.
It's not tax dodging (which is illegal) it's tax avoidance which is legal as we speak.Good luck to him,i would do the same thing if i was rich enough.

I cannot belive all you selfish pricks not wanting to pay tax. What about our health service? Our Police? Our fire service? Our benifit system that helps the needy?
I just cannot belive peoples selfishness!

I suspect it is mostly his accountants work, but hes far too well educated not to know that he was paying way less tax than he should be. It needs fixing but it does seem like a bit of a non-story for all the media coverage its getting.

I was thinking about this yesterday, and meant to post a thread asking how many of us 'own up' to avoiding tax in some way (I say 'own up' because I'm talking about legal methods, not dodging).

I've come up with two - one I do, and one I might do some day.

If I were to buy a car, I might well consider looking for a pre-1972 project, partly because I like simple old cars and partly because they are exempt from VED.

What I do now, is buy children's shoes. I've got size 5 feet, so I can usually get a child's style trainer or walking boot - child style in this case being exactly the same as adult style. No VAT on children's clothes and shoes.

Ok, the amounts involved are pretty small, but in principle it's just the same.

So, although I would prefer that wealthy people paid more tax, and that everyone stopped assuming that low tax is the best thing for society (look at Scandinavia - high tax, but also high social standards), I can't condemn those clever enough to get round it.

he found a loop hole ,if any of us did we would use it,just now there will be a bill passed to close this hole in the net,as they have just done with trade coming from Jersey we now pay vat on printer inks!we have been getting cheap goods for years but the hole is closing:stop:

Personally I can't believe the fuss over it. Man who earns a lot hires an accountant, who earns his money by advising Carr how to make the most out of his.
Is that your loophole or the supplier's?
I should say suppliers I questioned the price rise on my account and they replied with the fact that the vat free had finished ,and there was a price rise,I just restock when there is a offer on now

How come he is so rich, I don't find him funny at all!
I do so agree with that comment.
As regards the tax bit.......I ran my own company for 15 years and was amazed how I (as Co Director) could pay myself via dividends etc. and payless tax than Joe Bloggs.
I dont blame Jimmy whatshisname........its the system that's crap.
And while I'm on my high horse!!!!!
Let he who has not sinned throw the first stone...... David Cameron 100% pure----I dont think so.

It's legal so that makes it ok.

You really think that's the only criteria?

Upping the price of your house the day before contracts are signed is LEGAL, but it doesn't make it ok.
Taking the pi55 out of someone who is crippled might be LEGAL, but it doesn't make it ok.
Watching a child wander into danger might be LEGAL, but it doesn't make it ok.

Champagne Socialist hypocrite. I hope the tw*t goes bust.
