Thinking about getting a quality folder for (reasonably) ultralight touring mainly in Europe. I know that Moultons split in two rather than fold but I've read such a lot positive stuff about the suspension system that I may be persuaded to "bend the rules" a bit.
I see myself using the Eurostar/ICE/TGV trains quite a bit. I've used Eurostar 3 times with my ti tourer packed into a (home-made) shoulder bag but I find it very awkward and unweildly to get on and off the train, a real pain in fact.
I've read Helen's Reivers Route journal on CGOAB and really like her luggage set up on the Joey.
Are there any Bike Friday NWT fans out there who would recommend it above the two I'm considering.
Many thanks.

Interested to see what you're talking about but couldn't find Helen User9609 on cgoab site. Link possible?

Edit: I figured it out. Here it is.

My loaded Airnimal, I only used it for one tour.

Bikepacker, thanks for the photo. That's one well loaded folder. It looks like the Sram dual drive on there. Did you find it ok for the serious climbing you were doing?
Please could you explain why you only used it for one tour?
Many thanks

The reason we only toured once on the bikes was the problem with bagging and loading the bikes on the trains. On our return journey we had to combat strikes and overcrowding on the French trains which took the gloss off the tour. Had I have been on my own it would not have been so bad but my wife was unable to lift so I had to deal with getting the 4 bags on and off the trains.

The bikes performed great and I would have no qualms about using one again. We did a tough tour of the Drome and Vercors with the toughest climb being the Col-de-Rousset.

I fitted the racks with setpins through the frame lugs and wing nuts backed with spring washers for the fastening. This meant the racks could be removed or replaced in seconds.

Below is a picture of the other Airnmal my wife used.

Jack,

You could try contacting UnclePhil. I think he took his Moulton on tour in South Africa. I've just come back from cycling Glasgow to Inverness with my Airnimal Joey and am still really happy with it. I love the spontaneity of not having to book trains ages in advance to get a bike space.
