7 million on the advertising campaign they are going to have to shift some tat ,to cover that,I looked around the store in Southampton and to be honest who buys the stuff

They won't struggle The week before Christmas last year, they took £157.8m and £570m in the 3.5 weeks leading up to Xmas ...very good retailer

Apparently, more people tuned into X Factor to watch the ad than X Factor...I am not entirely surprised

Just watched the behind the scenes for this years campaign and I can't help but admire the skill that goes into making the advert.

The emotional connection that John Lewis is trying to make with viewers in the advert is genius. John Lewis strategy is to differentiate and care about customers, employees (it's a co- op) and quality of product rather than making the sale and not caring for after sales support like other retailers. The advert echoes what they are all about.

I have only just seen the advert but what a load of cynical , materialistic rubbish . I worry if people watch this and trog of to John Lewis .

I had to take my ageds to John Lewis today. This song on repeat.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!! Cruelty to the punters but most of all to the staff who have to hear it over and over again! It wasn't over the PA but from a few TV screens dotted about so you kept sort of running into it.

Bought a couple of nice loo brushes though. Christmassy.
