Most of you may not know him or heard of him but Johnny Hallyday died of lung cancer last night at the age of 75.
He was a national icon in France, often called the Elvis Presley of French rock. He sold more than 110 million records, 42 golden discs and over 1000 songs recorded. His career spanned over 60 years and 50 albums. Of all of his concerts, 9 were at the Stade de France. Another great artist gone.

TBH I thought he had passed away many years ago.
Lovely voice....some nice music.

I saw him once as we walked past one of his concerts in St Tropez in the mid 80's. My French mates considered him a rock legend even then.

They don't hang about in France, he only died on Tuesday night and he is being buried on Saturday. The cortege will go from the Arc de Triumphe and the Champs Elysee. I think the French President will be there too, as well as thousands of people. I bet they wouldn't move that quick in the UK as burials take weeks to get organised over here.
