Friend of mine, who listens to the wireless, sends me occasional snippets, this morning's being...:
Jonathan Aitken, the former cabinet minister, gave a speech on prison reform yesterday and recalled his first day behind bars after being convicted of perjury in 1999. He was seen by the prison psychiatrist, who was unaware of his famous patient and asked for assorted personal information. Then he said: “Does anyone other than your family know you are in prison?” Aitken smiled. “About 20 million people,” he said. The psychiatrist was taken aback by this and looked over his glasses at the patient. “Have you ever suffered from delusions?” he asked.
