Have you checked for headset play?

wipe some cola on the rotor, let it dry. then do some high speed stops. At least 10.

I'm thinking the pads need bedding in a bit. and its worth checking the bolts on the caliper/rotor are tight. any loose bolts make for good vibrations..

My Avids sound like a turkey under heavy braking, and some rotors judder more than others

Mine judders too. BB7. Old pads. Seems worse at start and end of life. I've always assumed its the suspension fork, tbh. Or the headset. Or (yesterday) not tightening up the QR axle enough!

Must get round to checking it out at some point. Not a point of failure I'd welcome.
