I went to the theatre in London a week early. Shows how well they checked the tickets, I even got to sit in "my" seat.
Still better that a week late.

My mother dragged me to that. You didn't miss anything. She spent the afternoon eyeing up woollen coffins!

I once rang the organiser of a science fair at Leeds Univerity in the evening to confirm the arrival of two coach loads of kids for the following day only to be told: "The fair was today"

I felt sick, my stomach knotted and I instantly planned an alternative trip to Whitby with fish and chips thrown in to buy the kids' silence.

After a long silence on the phone she then said: "it's a good job that it's a two day event and you're welcome to attend the primary school's event tomorrow"

I reckon she got a lot of pleasure out of stringing me out for what seemed a lifetime.

Not time but place - I once drove 200+ miles to the Wirral for a wedding. It was in Birmingham.
