It seems to me that the husband must have been macarooned at the side of the road after the fool was apprehended, was she from Bakewell ? - tart ! driving whilst drunk, its enough to make you hot and cross bun !
She probably had more booze in her than a Christmas cake !
Apparently she'd got sozzled watching some dancing programme on the TV - they'd been doing the meringue, and yes, she does blame the husband for getting her into this right old Eton mess - hes going to get a kick in the Baklavas when she gets home !

She took a big whisk driving to pick him up like that. A huge fine, points on her license and maybe a ban will teach her that these things are not to be trifled with, and would be the icing (sugar) on the cake.
It'll probably only be a bun... unless the case's scone to court.
