Just done the winter route home.

During daylight my route home goes through a big public park. It's longer, but that means the hill home is a little gentler. However, riding through deserted parks in the dark is not recommended for us ladies, so tonight, being the first time this year I've ridden home in the dark, I came home on the winter route. Shorter, but sharper.

Got a bit of a dab on now

Does anyone else have to alter their route for the winter?

Ah, Sara, I keep using the dark park (well, some bits are lit 24/7 so not completely dark) all year round.
I figure that not even the most determined lurker can stand the Scottish winter weather long enough for me to appear at random.

Mine winter goes through Belle Isle (which isn't beautiful!) rather than Leeds Ring Road since the 70mph dual-carriageway isn't the best place to be going uphill on a cold, dark evening.

When we lived near you I was pregnant with User76 and was generally asleep by dark and it snowed from the day we arrived to the day we left so I much preferred to hibernate

Meersbrook is for wimps! Real Sheffield cyclists ride through Meersbrook on their way to the top of a proper hill.

But you're frighteningly right in your guess that I cycle through Meersbrook Park. Have you been following me?

I can't cycle fast, its up a massive blummin hill, and if I tried to sing it'd probably kill me!

I have 2 routes to work one via a busy cycle/pedestrian path and another through a huge cemetary! In daylight hrs i use cemetery as that covers nearly half my ride to work and in dark I use cycle path. Cemetery is only open dawn till dusk and i was surprised it was open at half 5 in the morning last week.(think it had been left unlocked all night). Cemetery is my preferred route as peds just annoy me on other route.
