Hi I've just come across your Forum not sure where to make myself known so I jumped in here, I'm fortunate to have lived near to the mythic Ventoux for 33 years as I run a business down here and know it well, a lot of things are said about the Ventoux some true others a bit exagerated, the Ventoux is not the only difficult climb in the area about 50 miles to the east is the Signal du Lurs virtually the same height but just as difficult except the Mistral rarely blows as badly and the climb is not so exposed to the fierce sunlight, there is believe or not a 17km Time Trial from St Etienne les Orgues to the top, there are lots of cyclo sportives and rallies round here as well as time trials, weather wise there's nearly 300 days of blue skies and its a very dry climate............more later

Hello Mnsr Repairtec. We have a few members based in France and I believe that some of our number have also ridden up Ventoux.

I stayed with Craig Entwhistle at Faucon when I did the Ventoux last year. What a beautiful house, village and area.

Its Not All A Paradise

Its not all paradise you can get fed up with blue skies and dry weather, the Vauclusians are generally very friendly people but the more you move up into the Alps de Haute Provence the people become much harder not very welcoming and damn right cussid and it takes years to be accepted even if your wife is from the region, the world painted by Peter Mayle is pure fantasy.........

Sounds like rural Devon! I once met an old lady in a tiny hamlet. She told me that she wasn't actually local. I asked her how long she'd been there for. "80 years" was the answer...

Our weather, of course, is far more varied.

6°C at 06h00 this morning here, was mid 20's last week, the clear night skies let the accumulated daytime heat escape.
