Does that mean that you can talk about three times as many fish that got away, or will it be just the one fish but three times as big?

As a novice Cat 4, I did my first race last month. The speed was quite a shock to me. I thought I had it in my legs and was rudely surprised. On the neutralised zone - 2 miles to the start line we were spinning along over 30 mph on the flat and my heart was in the red zone. Good luck, it is a brutal baptism and I do not think club riding really prepares you for it.

Not always like that. Stick at it. Cat 4 always gets a few weekend warriors fresh from sportives. Circuits with technical sections usually leaves the races controlled by the ones who can ride. Try a few of those, and use whatever skill and courage and sheer guts you have to stay near the front.

Well I'm not planning on doing badly - winning most likely won't be in me just yet, but I shall endevour!

How many points is it to get up to Cat 3, 10/20?

As for the crazy high speeds of 30mph....I can hold 30mph while riding solo for around 4 minutes, but don't have much left in the tank after this - hopefully enough to cling on.

Will you be getting one of the new laminated ones with a nice fish picture on it? I heard about them on You and Yours....
