Coming down Bursledon Road in Southampton as a passenger in a car and saw a right heap of s*** pulled over to one side. As we passed from the other direction we noticed a Cop on a motorbike booking him. We got stuck at the lights opposite so I was able to note:

-dodgy tyres (bare and with some white thread showing)
-bonnet was all bent out of shape and didnt close right
-numerous dents in the dark green paint work
-covered in crap, but could have been rust

It didnt look like it should be on the road and the guy looked sheepish as the Cop noted a load of stuff down, shaking his head. I'm sure I've seen this car about before and its never driven very well and usually at speed.

Hope the guys got good walking shoes!

I've seen coppers pulling cars over for a few years now, usually see one or two a day, I'm all for it

Honestly this is the first time I've seen it in about 5 years. I've seen "knocks" at premises a few times whilst out on the bike though

Unlicensed would imply the driver doesn't have a license, which he might have. Maybe just add "Illegal vehicle" instead.

Police full cars over all the time, some of their best results come directly from routine traffic stops.

Yes, that is why we should have more police and less cameras, police catch bad drivers not just people that speed

I can see a time when cameras evolve into catching mobile use, erratic driving and RLJ cyclists. The current camera system favours government income over the people that should be benefiting (the local police and councils)

..but thats a separate thread.;)

Back to the OP, it would depend on how bad the other stuff was but the only illegal thing there would be the tyres.

There's no law against driving a dirty and dented vehicle... at least, I hope there isn't.

Well his bonnet was partly popped up (did I mention that earlier, cant remember) too. As you say though the tyres would be enough.

I think there was a good chance of this one tonight either being illegal or nicked.

Lol, I thought you meant the red car. I had to replay a few times to notice the m-bike go through the lights (my bleary eyes were focussing on the red car, thinking "what's wrong with that, I don't geddit")
