It's a race with no pacing allowed, using the fastest route. On major roads, so a following vehicle is advisable. Food and drink mostly handed up to avoid stopping. I think she had one hour's sleep at Penrith and one or perhaps two massages.

Quite a lot. It's the stops that eat into time. Someone shouting at encouraging you to keep going doubtless also helps.
