Just thinking of someone makes a difference.You may know i sit with a neigbour twice a week and watch films and or natter.I also go to the east coast once a year for a couple of days to stay with a long time friend and retired postal worker.I also go once a month to see another long time friend and retired postal worker here in Leeds.We have cake biccies a warm drink a laugh and talk about old times.Last month he mentioned a chap he liked at work.Well two weeks ago i bumped in to him in the supermarket.He is on the sick after having emergency surgery and having two stents fitted.
I asked him would he think about visiting Jack who thinks a lot about him,yes he said.So today was the day.He has a car so he collected me ,and off we went.We parked up,i asked Pete to stay behind and at the side off me.I knocked on the door Jack opened it,i said my mate has brought me in his car,but before he goes could he use the toilet,Jack said yes of course.Up pops Peter.Jack was stunned in to silence,his face was a picture. They have not seen each other for five years.So followed three hours of fun and laughter.
Jack made a drink to go with the lemon cake i took along with jelly babies and chocolate peanuts for Jack and his wife.While i went in to the kitchen,Jack said he was upset,he could not think why i had gone to such trouble to bring these two ex workmates together.He said he was really touched by us both thinking of him,i told him he was a silly b and that we younger blokes had the greatest of respect for him as a friend.What a wonderful afternoon he was in fine form,just a few hours has lifted his spirits.
