I once ran over a cat on my bike. It darted out from under a car, I tried to avoid it but failed spectacularly as I seem to recall riding straight over the middle of its spine with both wheels. I turned to see if it was alright but it jumped up and darted off.

It is the season for squirrel so I understand. St John restaurant in London has it on its menu regularly at this time of year. It apparently tastes like wild rabbit. This year, they're served either deep-fried or gently braised with dried porcini, shallots and bacon.

Is it lunchtime yet?

Exactly !

A life is a life !

I'm not happy about this Thomas !!!

---------------

Though I once had a cat jump down from a railway embankment and between the front and back wheels...i thought i'd gone in the wheels and braced myself but it used one of its lives as far as im concerned !

Was the first part sarcastic? I'm assuming it is....

What happened with the cat sounds like what happened with the rabbit I ran over...jumped off the verge and across the road - not quite quick enough, or lucky enough as you cat though!

I've been hungry since getting to work...and that was at 10 to 9 ;).. but I think I'll settle for my double decker, bacon, tomato and salad sarny with kettle crisps ....and 2 mini flake bars ....oh and some fruit. (I like to think that when I cycle I can eat whatever I like without worrying - this probably isn't the case )

Why do animals do it? How fecking retarded are they? It's really not that difficult to wait for no traffic to be around. But like some have said, they seem to wait for the worst possible moment then go for it....

It really does go to show that the rest of the animal kingdom really have little genuine intelligence

No, it shows that traffic is not something they have a natural instinct about. Also, the ones who get it wrong, don't have the chance to learn from their mistakes, and the ones that get it right probably do so by luck, and don't know there's a wrong way until it's too late.

I dare say, if you were walking along and suddenly a huge alien spaceship came overhead, you might not act completely rationally...
