She is from somewhere other than the Home Counties, she went to her local comprehensive school, she didn't go to Oxford or Cambridge, she has a professional i.e. non-political qualification, she worked in the real world before becoming an MP and of course she is a woman. There are far too few people with that background in front line politics in any party and TBH I'm not that bothered whether she rides a bike or not.
Well I would hope that if she did she might actually appreciate our cycling issues and try to do something concrete about them rather than simply sucking up to the might of the motor lobby
Politicians would have us believe that they run the country and make all the important decisions. In fact they don't. They have influence only at the margin and spend their time reacting (with a lot of noise and posturing) to events, trends and behaviour which they have no real control over.
And a good thing too, IMO, because the last thing we need is a world run by a self-serving class of parasitic narcissistic busybodies.
