Karla's Challenge: Transalp 2016
A 600km, 7 day MTB race across the alps. forGuillain-Barre & Associated Inflammatory Neuropathies (gain) because GBS needs our support and awareness raised
In September 2015 karla boddy's sister Anne was diagnosed with an awful syndrome called GBS. GBS has left Anne paralysed and requiring full ventilation support. It's a syndrome which attacks the peripheral nervous system and means that Anne has lost all motor function and control and has no other way to communicate other than her eyes. It is brutal and comes out of nowhere. Only 1500 people in the UK each year get this and 60% of cases occur after the patient has had some sort of viral or bacterial infection.
The money karla hopes to raise will go directly to the charity which has three aims: to raise awareness of GBS, the fund research and importantly to support families going through this who may need a level of financial aid.
