Take it to the police and put with them. Really its a couple of hours of your life to stop an idiot like the WVM.
I think it gets worse now the nights and mornings are lighter.

I am the police.. I can't investigate it as I'm involved. It's all to do with Data Protection and human rights etc!

I hate that feeling when you are approaching pinch points and you can hear a fast moving car approaching from behind, and there is no change in engine note or brake/tyre noise.

+1 to that.....a feeling of impending doom

OP - that was a shocking pass. I suspect that could be a works van, so show it to the police. You have nothing to lose, but they might take it seriously and have a word with the driver or employer

BM, Unfortunately I can't! Because I was involved I am now being told I can't do PNC checks (data protection). So I have to raise an incident and a collegue to investigate. Intend to do it when I'm back on duty on Wednesday... My boss is going to get annoyed with me rasing incidents for road traffic offences!

I assume you can still do checks if you are on duty at the time of the incident? Or has data protection gone really mad?

It's probably not actually data protection, but more the force doing a bit of traditional arse covering. I can't really see a reason why Vike couldn't PNC and give words of advice himself - if he was on a police cycle, he could, if he was in a police car he could! He's using the systems in an open, honest and legal way, in course with his duties.

That said, if there's an intention of any sort of court or formal proceeding (I.e. other Han 'words of advice') then I fully agree that Vike shouldn't PNC and investigate himself, as he can't be seen to be approaching it from a neutral standpoint, which we must. It would be similar to me being the investigating officer for an assault on me - it just wouldn't look good, and could give the defence an angle to go with in court.

+1 to being further out.

However it is dependant on the driver not being prepared to kill you.

Had a similar incident with bollards before a mini island last week, the car that attempted to overtake before the bollards didn't know that there were bollard and ended up doing an emergency stop in the opposite lane head on with oncoming traffic.

Fortunately they stopped and didn't swing into me when they saw the oncoming cars and the driver got a mouthful from me as well, needless to say it was a cautious overtake afterward and I think they learnt something. Hate to think what might have happened with your WMV though!

And political correctness gawn maddd..!

..sorry. That doesnt help.

Overtakes like that scare even the hardest of riders.

I'd say that is a sensible approach - objectivity very difficult if a police officer is involved.

you joke but in all seriousness the temptation to play the "warrant card" is very tempting and could soon give you a reputation if you take advantage too often.

I'd let it go, like the rest of us mortals have to.

Keep the card in your pocket til you really need to play it.
