The majority of people i talk to are astounded that i'm 'allowed' to keep a couple of my bikes in the house, some of my friends wives think it's hilarious, is anyone else as paranoid as me?

indoors all the way - the rain can rust bits if you have a bike that can rust and bike theft is a massive concern- not paranoid, just wise!

This is a question..are they cyclists you are talking to?

Where else would you keep them?

No, not in a shed:ohmy: in the cold and damp when they is a nice dry, warm, centrally heated house for them to live in. Have you any idea what could happen to them out there?

my wife dislikes the fact that at least one bike is in the dining room (unless said bike is out on the road), but it does mean:

• less buggering about if commuting

• room for the other two bikes in the cellar

• at least it's not kept in the bedroom, like a mate of mine's.

Let's see
1) garage... no two cars & all the tools are in there.
2) Shed... £1700 worth of bikes in something wooden with out a secure way to lock them up? forget it.
3) Conservatory (a proper one not an extended sitting room)... a) it's full of plants  see above but substitute glass for wood.
4) Spare bedroom/utility room... it's on the ground floor, it's warm & dry plus can be alarmed. Yeah I'll take it thanks.

Oh and if the other half complains I just remind her who is actually paying for this house out of their own salary with no contributions from her.

It's the only place to keep them if you haven't got a secure dry garage/shed. We keep all 4 of ours in the house although the 2 older ones may get relegated to the shed as it's getting a wee bit crowded, we have a small bungalow. I'm all 4 putting some sort of racking in the front room to keep them organised (i did see a really smart rack on here a couple of weeks ago but forgot to take the details down :o)

The neighbourhood also has some bearing on this too some right little thieving gits around

A friend of mine recently bought a motorcycle, a yamaha R6 to be precise. Anyway when he arrived at the house to look at it, he was invited into the sitting room and the bike was behind the sofa!

Two sheds, five bikes in them but if my bike is wet then it lives in the hall until it's dry. Putting wet bikes in a shed is how you get them to rust.
