How do you all keep your ears warm in winter, please? I've seen someone cycling with ear muffs on, but I tend to like to have all my senses available. Is a cycle cap the best idea, or does anyone have a better solution, please? I quite fancy a balaclava when it gets as cold as today!

I use a Nike, thermal, runners head band. Fits well under the helmet, covers my ears and keeps them warm. It mops up the sweat too.

I hate having cold ears. Ski type headband is a must over baa baa skull cap.

Thanks for the quick responses. I hadn't seen buffs before but they look fantastic, love the different styles! Think that's the solution for me :-).

I usually wear a buff round my neck which keeps the draughts out and can be pulled up for extra insulation if required. I normally wear a lightweight bandana or a mid-weight skullcap on top, under the helmet, and use those to cover the tops of my ears. That's usually enough to stop them getting too cold, but does not affect my hearing too much..

In really cold and/or wet conditions I wear a heavy-duty Gore skullcap. I found a new one on a local bridleway a few years back and it fits me perfectly - I have a large head so that is unusual!

I tell my friends that I am going out riding for an hour and ask them to talk about me. Works every time. Well, that and a buff works anyway.
