Now heading for Trowbridge. Got totally soaked in one quick, effective rain storm .
Drying out at Dusty Ape coffee somewhere near the other Bradford.

Steamy wet. On the train. Bailed out at Trowbridge. Train to Bristol.

The track from Devizes to Trowbridge is dire, more than that in the wet.
Wrong wheels, wrong tyres, wrong pressure.
Hope to find laundry, drying and bike washing in Bristol.

Dusty Ape was set up by friends of mine - the guy abandoned some well-paid but maybe not so gripping job to do something more interesting.
Shame you missed the original Bradford (so they claim - originally a weaving town too). The towpath there does indeed get slippery when wet.

I rode it (quite carefully!) about 12 months ago. It was fine on road tyres! But it was a dry-ish spell, and I had low expectations of the surface :P

Hope to find laundry, drying and bike washing in Bristol.
They have a massive harbour. Good luck!

Very occasional cyclists can’t understand why I don’t like canal cycling. If I want rough stuff I’ll use a mtb on proper tracks, and road I prefer tarmac. I find flat rides very dull, even when no traffic and nice scenery. Downhills are rewards for climbing effort.

We'll, we made it to Bristol and still talking.
Now in Cardiff to see younger brother. He lives in a small flat

So I'm in a hotel.
Arrived to the smell of fresh paint and the news I'm their Guest of the Day.
Upgraded room - very nice, thank you

Then they saw the bike.
Anxious moment, the rooms have just been decorated and fitted with new, spot free, beige carpet.
So, my bike is now standing on some of their nice towels. It's admiring the view of the lake and looking forward to the taste of their electricity.

The bed in the upgrade room is the size of a small county.

Maybe I'll get some news for Ernie too.
