Often sticks when back pedaling (starts driving wheel backwards) and noisy in bottom bracket, would that be broken bearings or just need of lubricating? Don't have suitable spanner to hand atm. Gt40 on freewheel and chain made little difference. Thx

If it drives the wheel when pedalling backwards the freewheel is sticking and needs a stripdown and service. Ditto the noisy bottom bracket.

If you're asking that question, servicing a BB and stripdown and servicing a freewheel is probably a stretch target. If you want to go for it, try searching for yourself and then ask questions of detail. Frewheels are cheap and easy to fit by hand (if you can get the current one off (small tool F big spnner and/or bench vice)). I'd do that first and then consider the BB.
BB servicing is a 'level 2' maintenance task and you'll need a number of tools.
(Btw a freewheel strip down and service is a 'level 3+' maintenance task - done purely for the fun of it, and/or for 'personal development' and a sense of satisfaction (if successful).)
