What kids programmes do you like?

My youngest is 3, so I still get the joys of kids TV. I like Peppa Pig (Google Peppa Pig Cycle Helmet Controversy) cos I think Daddy Pig is a bit of an unsung hero. I also like Postman Pat, especially the earlier series. Just seems to hark back to a simpler time.

I used to watch TISWAS, but only because I thought Sally James was a hottie

There's no kids TV programmes these days that I think are worth watching! My little grandsons seem to enjoy the weirdest stuff - were the folk who wrote these on hallucinogenic drugs or something?!

Give me the Wombles, Paddington Bear or The Clangers any day!
I mean whats weird about a group of Wombles tidying up Wimbledon common, a talking bear from darkest Peru who has a penchant for marmalade, and little creatures who live on the moon and whistle to communicate?
Eh?

Big Babies on CBBC was brilliant, well worth checking out on YouTube. I've learnt more from Horrible Histories than I ever did in History at school.

Can't beat the old Oliver Postgate stuff though <sighs nostalgically).

I quite liked Lilly Driftwaood. Olivia (the Pig) wsa good when our eldest was young but don;t think it;s on anymore.

They now only seem to watch Horrid Henry and Art Attack

The best program my 5 year old daughter watches by a mile is Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Nonja Turtles, the animated series that started in 2012. As an adult its really good and very, very well made. Way better than the original series, the 2003 remake or the lame recent film.

Its quite refreshing to watch it really, as I was under the opinion that most recent kids television programs were shite. Nice to be wrong.

Cos those who did those weren't on hallucinogenic drugs...along with Magic Roundabout!

Oliver Postgate is one of my heroes, a very principled man as well as a truly wonderful imagination and Peter Firmin too for his technical expertise.

Anything Cosgrove Hall put out was worth taking the phone off the hook for and videoing.

Horrible Histories is great and I like the deftness of Spongebob and a program from a few years back called I'm sorry I've got no head. Some bigger than Kids TV names in it and properly daft sketches.

The Shadoks never got a wide audience (it was on ITV, 1973 acc to Wikipedia) but I loved it, and remember it fondly. And now I can watch it on the interwebs!

Confession time! My wife and I both sat down a couple of nights ago and watched an episode of Bagpuss. It was the ship in the bottle episode and we wanted to see if it was as good as we remember.

It was!
