Kirklees, West Yorkshire - Spen Valley Greenway gets the green light for exciting upgrade

Another section of the greenway is due to be upgraded, I've posted about it before but from concept design in November 2021 it'll be December 2025 4 years later that the work is expected to complete. This work should include some of the roughest sections where root damage has made the path unrideable for anyone not on a full suspension mountain bike!

Whats not mentioned is before this work starts, Yorkshire Water are ripping up parts of the path and that work will need to finish before these improvements can start. Its a good job I'm not commuting regularly as this is right on the route I use. There is a way around it but its quite hilly unlike the greenway which avoids all of that.

Ironically it's the part behind you which is very bumpy. Hopefully this will be an improvement, but quite a long wait for it all to be done.

Oh yeah that corner is nasty too, I forgot about that bit. Its hard to tell on the map they use but I think that section is just out of the range of these improvements.
