KMs and metric systems easier to calculate hence most folk use them, but being a luddite in a country which uses mph targets (speed limits) and mile signs I use miles. I can quite quickly vision a km but don't really process kph unless its a nice round number (eg 30, 50, 80 or 100kph).
Really? If my non-cycling friends ask how far I've been 85 miles means something and is a lot impressive more than 137km - which means nothing. I had to Google the conversion. š¤£
I only use miles, probably because Iām old and all road signs in the U.K. are the same. My cycling daughter and English friends who live in Sweden use KMs.
If your using a track pump, itās likely to be wildly inaccurate. For real tyre pressure you need to use a proper pressure gauge or second best one of those battery/ electric pumps.
This is according to GCN so it must be true.š
I'd like to know my true tyre pressure. The trouble is where to start? Where do I find an accurate point to calibrate from?
Track pump - agreed probably very inaccurate Pressure gauge ** - bought a good one. It seems to be very inaccurate Electric pump - yep, appears to be reasonably accurate
** I accept it may be my technique and plan to do some more research on this
For me it's miles and feet. Kms mean very little, metres and cms, yes I get those and use regularly. I don't know anyone, apart from my son and buddy below, who uses metric in relation to cycling
A good friend and cycling buddy is in to audax and I'm used to chatting with him in 200, 400, 600k and metres. Interestingly for all other rides he uses miles and feet.
