Ice, then heat, stretching, foam rolling, rest

If it persists, see a physio

Be mindful of saddle height and gearing

Look for information on patello-femoral syndrome

Oh, another tip; learn to read your knees.

Did you have any sense your knee was upset prior to this realisation? Probably. Did you think it would go away? I have in the past. But you have to spot the way things are going and adjust your approach.

As @vickster said, Welly in the wrong position will chew them up. You might be really happy you found the right geometry, but definitely play around because your knees might disagree with you.

Height, how far forward the saddle is and so on... Easy to adjust, hard to get right.

Edit: oh and I am sorry to hear about this. I share your pain.

If 3-6 months of physio doesn't help, it might be structural/internal, and then it's time for a knee specialist and an X-ray/MRI

Don't know how that all fits into the healthcare system in France though

You must be reading my thoughts....l knew things were not quite with my knee but stupidly l ignored the sensation. As you say, there are so many variables at play and it is hard to get everything right. Thanks for your sympathy....l know lm not alone with this problem !

Me neither, but it sounds like it could require a second mortgage:whistle:

Well possibly if you have to pay for it all

With the stretching don't just focus on your quads, also calves, hamstrings, glutes etc, the whole lot
I will bite the bullet and see what the Doc. says ! As for stretches, warm ups and warm downs l really ought to know better than to skimp on them as l used to row competitively in my youth.... l appear to have got older but missed the wiser bit:banghead:
