At about 8-15am a car pulled out of an entrance to a farm shop right across my path (cycle path) without looking before I could react and over I went landing on my right side. I got the driver's details and a witness stopped too and left his number. I've been to the docs and have to go for an x-ray later. All seems OK just loads of blood on my leg but it looks worse than it is. My right shoulder is really painful though. Have called the Police who tell me the number plate I gave them (which I noted as carefully as I could) wasn't on their database and the address the driver gave me doesn't exist! No apologies from him either the bar steward. He just scuttled off as quickly as he could. Hopefully the injuries won't turn out to be too bad and I won't need to chase him. The main thing of course is the bike is completely fine- had a little wobble about on it to make sure. The cops are coming round later for a statement so if anyone has any advice- it would be gratefully received.

GWS Glow worm.

My advice isn't going to be any use to you now, but I would certainly advise anyone having any kind of RTC to photograph any other parties and their vehicles if at all possible. Could come in very handy.

If he was coming out of the farm shop the chances are he bought something there. Which means he might be known to the folks in the shop or there might be a record of a transaction there to help identify him.

OOUch , GWS !!!

If the plates are are not on the dtabase does that mean the need to contact DVLA or that the driver has not done anythign wrong before?

If they can trace him then he has supplied false details which is a big no no the naughty little begger ....

I would keep a record of your injuries in case something gets worse as symptoms can change , check your bike over and if necessary take it to the LBS for a quote if you are not sure.
In the event the police can trace the driver it means you then have documentation if you need to file a injury claim etc etc if your symtoms need care that puts you out of pocket .

Crikey, hope you are not seriously hurt.

The only think I can suggest, which is useless now, is to call the police immediately in this situation and try and stop the driver from leaving.

Sympathies! I got knocked off last year and seemed to take it all on my upper arm which was nice and bruised for a while.
One thing you don't know till you've been in the situation is how much adrenaline kicks in so you really aren't thinking straight for a bit. Glad a witness stopped for you - did they perhaps get the plates? Or do you think they were false plates (false plates and fake address?!).
What I did was to take a photo of the van with my mobile. Doesn't help if mobile has broken on impact, but worth a thought for anyone else who might be in the situation. Also got driver's details on the phone. Didn't have a pen or paper with me but it's worth any members who have a saddlebag or similar keeping one in (perhaps with their puncture kit)?
