Where did the pothole hide?
Under water perhaps...?

Exactly, with the benefit I perhaps could have avoided my incident by getting off and walking around surface water.

Perhaps the OP could also have avoided his accident by preempting the potential left turn due to the forthcoming junction and the presence of cars on the road. Or perhaps he should expect to have equal expectations of safety when using our highways and therefore it will always be someone else's fault.

Why not just let him know what the cost is? If it's a cheap wheel than he may be happy to pay up. If it's a top end wheel, or other damage was done he may want to let it go through insurance.

Let him know. Let him decide. If he doesn't sort it out just go to his insuarance company.

I left the  in there so not to take it too seriously. How are you healing up after the pot hole crash ?

Root canals on front two teeth done and temporary cap fitted, 3rd root canal mid-june. Two absessess so still on anti-biotics and dental splint being fitted next week to stabilise tooth. 3 hours scheduled in mid-july for crown prep and fitting, can't wait. Still can't bite as pain too bad but able to chew soft food.

Ended up with concussion as well and bone chip in elbow, still waiting for them to sort that out!!

Could have been worse though, and hoping to get out on bike again sometime soon before winter sets in.

Ouch. Glad it's not stopped you 'thinking' of riding again. You can do far worse MTB'ing you know, those trees are a menace.

I will look a muppet in a met parachute though but I can't afford to hit the teeth again.

And yes I shall wear it on the road bike.
