No pancakes at the palace?

Well it wasn't really the palace, it was Copenhagen town hall, and no, not this time. He has a fairly quick turnaround to the Euros and needed to get home and rest with his family before that, so it wasn't really an option. And there's an interview somewhere where he says he loves the pancakes, but he'd really prefer the kebab

Just been crunching the stats, and Mads P's Giro-Vuelta points jersey double was the first points jersey double in 30 years, since Jalabert with a Tour-Vuelta double in '95.

The only other Giro-Vuelta points jersey double was Merckx in '73

There have only ever been six GT points jersey doubles (there have been 19 double GT GC wins)

All the details are available if you pay the Danegeld:

Jalabert won the Vuelta that year too, and was 4th in the Tour. Interestingly, that was also a year with a super hilly Worlds in a non-traditional location, with Olano winning in Colombia. I don't know if it's a harbinger of Sunday, but just 20 riders finished, with none other than Mr UEA, Mauro Gianetti in 4th.

Yeah, winning the points in the Vuelta was often coupled with winning the GC - the Merckx Giro-Vuelta points double was also a GC double
