Rebuilt, but not yet better than ever

I picked up this frame from Gumtree for a fiver in the hope of using it as a donor bike for another project. It was advertised as a Raleigh Wayfarer, and I think it probably is. The frame and forks seem sound (if you're prepared to ignore the amateurish Hammerite paintjob. I had a go at removing the cranks and stem, but these are pretty well stuck! I'm sure the stem could be removed with a bit more patience than I was able to muster. The cranks could be a bit trickier - the bolts probably need to be cut, I'm afraid.
I have the wheels - the rear is a three speed Sturmey Archer hub, but I have no idea whether or not it's in working order. The front axle is completely shot. I also have brake levers and the gear shifter to go with it. Apparently the lady I picked this up from was still riding this bike - I had a go at riding it 200yds before I decided I liked life too much!
I'd much rather it went to someone for restoration or a project than have to take it to the tip. I'm in East London, and a pick up would be preferred, but I'm open to suggestions if you're further away.
