Ladies Roadbikes £1k?

Hi guys and girls.

Friend of my partner has decided to come in from the dark side, i.e. running, and wants to upgrade from her hybrid to a roadbike with a view to maintaining general fitness and taking part in sportives (she is very fit from years of running and gym).

She has asked me for my view of best buy ladies roadbikes for c£1k. No preference re frame type, etc., i.e. open to any suggestions.

Despite my stable of bikes built up over too many years to remember, ladies roadbikes is an area I'm not too clued up on.

Therefore, suggestions sought from the good folk of CycleChat.

Squire
Giant Avail 1
Cannondale Synapse
Trek Lexa
Specialized Dolce

Would be the ones I would look at in that order

With solid googling might be able to find a higher specced bike / carbon frame around budget for an older model (look at Ashcycles for Giant and pedal-on for C'dale)

I would personally say don't restrict yourself to ladies bikes when you often pay more for similar or worse components and also, although improving, the looks of WSD leave a lot to be desired!

I ride a mans Specialized Secteur Comp and a Giant TCX1. Both have been a great fit for me, personally, and I'm glad I didn't restrict my choice. I'm not saying don't buy WSD, but realise that with the help of a decent bike shop, the fit can be just as good. And you'll get more for your money.
