Like Jane and Kirstie, I love lillies (had Cala lillies at my wedding) and anything else that's usually more expensive than your standard garage bunch! Can't stand carnations or those gerbera?? flowers that have very strong colours that you see in supermarkets. I like to buy a large bunch of freesia for the kitchen once in a while. Think they're really delicate looking and only a £1 dearer than a bunch of carnations:biggrin:. Not keen on roses though.

When my husband was off work after an op, his work sent a lovely bunch of lillies to wish him better. I was delighted, of course, and he was a bit puzzled. I think he found out that personnel had mistakenly ordered the 'female' gift rather than the male gift, which should have been a basket of fruit .

Was only joking about the carnations... a friend got a real ticking off from his missus for not really putting any thought into the garage-bunch he bought for her one time
Mrs F likes Lilys too. I usually buy a bunch at the weekend sometime (not from the garage, I hasten to add)

Mrs F is very lucky - I have to buy my own flowers . However, hubby can be romantic and knows he can win me over with a bar of Dairy Milk. And it's much cheaper than flowers;).

I'm very fortunate, in that Ms RT (being a botanist) doesn't really approve of bought flowers. So I don't bother. But I rather like lillies, I think they brighten the place up and smell nice.

My mum can't stand lillies, think it's the smell rather than the look - seems like she's on her own.

I usually get Mrs 3BM a bunch of flowers from the local florist for occasions only, romantic old fool!

Not that fond of roses - well not the sort that you get from florists - but love David Austin ones in my garden. My favourite flowers to receive are lilies and alostromelia's (sorry about the spelling of that one).

One's in a field - wild and uncut

Although that's rather a nice bunch you're sending out Blazed - what've you been up to then?

I love lilies - alas, the pollen is toxic to cats and gives them kidney failure in even the tiniest amounts. Make sure your lady friend does not have cats if you get her lilies!

I wouldn't really want someone spending £40 on flowers for me ... for that sort of price I would prefer the money to be spent on plants for the garden or something else.

I love lillies, of any sort. I buy them, always closed as they last so much longer this way. I like value for money

Once they open, I cut off the pollen stems from the middle as they drip and also drop pollen onto the carpet/table

Roses are lovely yes, but I find, no matter how much I read and follow the advice of looking after cut roses, they never last.

I have a rose named after me, for a bit of useless info. My dad used to be a rose grower at one time.

Campfire, has a rose named after her too

It's not called Campfire though!!!!! I think I'm going to try to get a cutting of the one in Nick's garden Jane.

I like carnations, freesia and chrysanthemums. But it's always so nice to receive flowers, I don't really care. I am also quite happy with a bunch from the florists/supermarket as a posh bouquet.
