Someone asked a similar question on instagram and this was her reply:

"I was on the same time line two years ago & it was perfect— didn’t realize El Niño would be so strong."

Certainly the weather for later this week is getting extreme, I would expect high twenties or low thirties at this time of year, but their now saying high thirties, peaking at 40°c for Saturday.

Planning for a trip like this must be incredibly complex and I certainly don't mean any criticism, just curiosity behind what informed her decision. What she has achieved and continues to achieve in the field of ultra endurance is really impressive and I would love to see her come back and have another go at cracking the record.

Yeah, that seems a fair answer:
when you consider they had to plan for the climates of Anchorage, Chicago, Lisbon, Germany, Khaskstan, Thailand AND Australia ... well it's no easy task.

(The SteLa tandem crew had debilitating heat in India, and finished in snow in Berlin).
