Strictly speaking it’s Ambleside Struggle, “struggle” being an old name for any steep, difficult and downright nasty piece of road, e.g. Keswick struggle on the A591 road south, Ulpha struggle, Kendal struggle on the Windermere road and so on.
Hats off to you lot for riding a bike up anywhere in the Lakes. Me and the wife are driving up today for a week but as for taking a bike? I'll stick to walking the fells and ride the bike when I get back home 😬
