Hi,

I am a bit of a noob in terms of following routes, am hoping to do part of the Lancashire Cycleway (91) route on the West side - biking from home in Southport to Burscough, then following the 91 round Ormskirk/Ashurst's Beacon toward Appley Bridge and then try and link back up to the 91 around Croston towards Mere Brow, etc.

What do people who've done the 91 make of that stretch? How much of it is traffic free, how difficult is it, etc? This will only be my first 'proper' ride in a few years and am keen to explore other routes.

Thanks......Dave

Hi Dave,

Traffic round that area is not too bad, I do it regular and there's a great descent down Roby Mill leading into Appley Bridge but of course the inevitable long climb back up towards Wrightington but very do-able. After that its quite flat and nice scenery. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
