Got a cottage booked next month at Crooklands south of Kendal, the Lancaster Canal runs past the village what's the tow path like 10 miles in both directions. Looks a little confusing coming South as it appears the M6 keeps crossing & recrossing & the tow path doesn't seem to be all there

The Lancaster Canal is cut is several places around there by the motorway - north of Crooklands theres not much canal full stop. South of there you can get on some bits but not others and some parts are technically footpath and not bridleway- you'd have to keep popping off the towpath and using local roads. If you get the local OS map you will see the route of the canal and where it is severed - there was talk of re-opening it all but the cost of dealing with the M6 is probably prohibitive

Cycled up from Lancaster to Carnforth on the towpath last Sunday. Possible all the way but most of it is very rutted tarmac.
