Orwell... the village no one seems to have heard of . Wimpole, Harlton, the Eversdens, Barton & the Radio Observatory sure but Orwell is greeted with a look of blank non-understanding.

The point ten minutes into my commute (varies according to my pace) where i stop questioning why I am cycling in and start enjoying the ride. Also the hot girl at the bus stop, but don't tell the Missus

Most recent landmark is the fallen tree on the off road trail I use sometimes, still down nearly 3 months since it happened, makes for a nice bit of limbo'ing to get past ^_^

Long shot but is it this tree near Manchester Road? We wondered how long that had been down for

Have you told anyone about it Potsy? A quick email to your local council's Rights of Way department will probably see it removed within a week. They don't know about problems like this unless someone tells them, as the days of inspecting rights of way regularly are long gone due to funding cuts .
Good point, will have a look on Sunday to see if it's still there, then fire off an email
After that pic I stopped going that way due to the wet/muddy state of the trail, been a few weeks so assumed it would have gone by now.

Pass it twice a day, buffs were invented for those kinds of smells xx(

My landmarks are mainly the pot-holes which have been engraved in my memory, and also places of increased danger, certain RAB's and junctions where near misses have happened in the past.

Inspiring in that I'm considering a new named landmark on my commute: One-finger junction.

There's loads of cars that I see nearly every day too... 'YMCA car', 'roof-box Audi', 'K-reg Micra' 'Champagne Beemer'... etc

I used to recognize individual cars on my commute, they all look the same these days.

The very smoky wrinkly silvered windows Mitsubishi is about the only one I notice now.

I see the same red Mondeo every time I'm on early shift, he always comes past me on the same stretch of road, parks and goes to the cash machine and then drives off again.

Ive got a dinosaur tree, on King Street just outside Helpston. Will have to wait for the leaves to be on it before I post a photo though! Looks just like a T-Rex

I have a '12 minute corner' which I'm chuffed if I reach in 11 minutes.

Then there's 'yellowhammer ash' - an ash tree where a yellowhammer often perched one summer singing his heart out.

Then passing Quy church there's the grave of someone called Ellen Hodson - I've no idea who she was, but it's one of the few gravestones I can read as I pass by as it's close to the path. I like to give the old girl a nod each morning.
