Personally, i'd be glad if they scrapped all cycle lanes and gave us our rightful place back on the road. They cause nothing but trouble, lead you into danger, and give drivers the perception that you don't have a right to be on the road.
This sounds exactly like a transatlantic version of the "Hove Cycle Lane" story posted in Campaign. But of course, this being NYC, they take a much more heavyweight approach to such disputes. Does it need a bicycling 'godfather' perhaps?
