Laptop start up problem

I joined Mercury Communications back in 1990. All our computers were Apple, resulting from the then IT director having left his previous job at IBM on non too amicable terms. I believe we were the biggest user of Apple products back then. The mainframe was Hitachi. When the director left after a few years at Mercury, there was a sudden rush to go back to PC's, all the Apple stuff was quickly brushed aside. We did stay with Hitachi mainframes, they were the IBM clones back then.
There's no moral to this story, just some memories from my time in a boring Brentford datacentre.
