Lark Rise to Candleford

Cycled past Lark Rise (Juniper Hill) last weekend, but haven't read it or seen it!

Whilst the books may be of some interest to social historians, Thompson's not the most riveting of writers. Lark Rise is probably the only book I was forced to read at school that I've not subsequently re-read - dire stuff.

Hmmm. Maybe I was wrong. Must confess I haven't read it for thirty years and change, but I remember enjoying it as well as finding it interesting. I've never re-read it, but then I hardly ever re-read anything.

This is a running theme but this programme is another of Mrs rich p's favourites which I vaguely have to watch by proxy.

I have previously railed against Wallender, New Tricks and probably some others. This one takes the biscuit though

Well, here's another benefit to living alone - I watch what I like (Top Gear last night, but would have been Lark Rise if they hadn't clashed).

But I don't think I could bother to get worked up if 'forced' to watch something because someone else wanted to. I can read, or knit, or whatever....

There are lots of books I found boring when at school that I now like immensely.
