It is indeed. Apparently Douglas Adams & Mark Carwardine wanted to do a 're-visit' 20 years after their collaberation. Since Douglas Adams is no more, and Stephen Fry is/was a friend to both, he's doing the update with Mark Carwardine

I read the book a few years ago. I remember Douglas Adams talking to Clive Anderson about it on a chat show, so that must have been twenty years ago *gulp*
It's encouraging to see the Kakapos are thriving, on those islands at least. New Zealand has some interesting parrots. The Kea is supposed to be one of the most intelligent animals in the world, although Kiwis I've met say it's a pest because they like stripping the rubber out of your windscreen wipers. Sad about the Yangste Dolphin though.

Keas are incredibly destructive. Clever, funny, noisy but very, very destructive.
