the lolly stick (or piece of cardboard) needed to be stuck into the wheel from the right side, or it could very easily undo the threaded ring which retained the core of a Woods valve, resulting in instant deflation. DAHIKT
Pah! Boring! When I was a kid I turned my Raleigh Roadrunner Christmas present into a dragster bike. I shoved the the mudguard to rub on the tyre to make the engine noise, painted the whole frame with black gate paint and moved the brake blocks up so that they rubbed the tyres, making the smell of burning rubber. This customization didn't cost me a penny - but I had to wait several years before I had saved enough money to buy a replacement bike.
