How not?
Normal brake levers are easier to control than those on drops, even on the hoods. And when you're on the hoods you're more stretched out so you're in a more compromised position.
That's my opinion of course, and we're all allowed to disagree. Apart from Simon.

I don't have any butterfly bars myself, at the moment, but can see the benefits. Frankly, whatever makes someones bike better for them is ok by me. I really don't get the idea of stuff being 'wrong', if it works...

I'd certainly try them. But I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of fitting them, to find out that I don't like them.
