No, those old time riders were so strong and muscular because of the lead they were riding. Hopefully my 82 Holdsworth is lead free.

I thought it might be silver solder, which melts at about 600 deg C but they said they'd run the bare frame through the 180 deg C oven just to check first.

It melted. It's lead.

Lead melts above 300C, possibly solder- 63/37 melts at 183C.

I'd take lead work over "bondo" any day of the week.

Watched a classic car restorer leading panels and it was like an artist at work!.

The paint hadn't stuck to it quite the same as to steel, and there was some bubbling after 37 years. The paint was the worst shade of poo brown inaginable (Sable Brown in the catalogue).
